salt water spinning reels.

I don't own to many spinning outfits ( sold a bunch of them off) but i do know if you are in the sodium water, then you need to have a PENN, no two ways about it. the SS 9500 is a sick ass huge spinning reel. It's perched on my 12' uglystick surf rod. the caning stick of death. I could have pulled up the red october with that bitch.

i wish i could afford more penns.....okuma is a good 2nd choice if you want to spend a lil less...but, penns will outlive us

i would go for the okuma because if you bang it around it doesn't break your heart just buy a new 1 and it gives you a reason to go to cabelas yay

Daiwa makes some damn good reel as well. for fresh water spinning at least.

yes they do...i got a capricorn and i really want to hammer nails with it, and then fish it, i think it would perform the same...nice bearings on those...for all you noobs out there...usually on spinning reels, the more bearings, the better...but there are exceptions, but usually only if the reels are over 150....and anything with arb on the reel =good...and infinite anti-reverse is awesome........less noise and jarring.smooth..i am a firm believer that fish can feel you on the other end, and that the wrong movements done by the fisherman, can discourage a bite.

update of my arsenal...two of my surf reels are okuma avengers...one is a baitrunner....i love that reel...i think its married to my 10 footer.......one of these days we are gonna have a casting contest........and i think heckler and his 12 ft sick of doom will beat everybody...but i may come in a close second with my ten ft ande rod

I need to get a newer stick of doom, it's a little to flimsy for the surf, i really think it's like one of those gag gifts like those big pens, except a big fresh water bass pole or something, there is no back bone on it, I am trying to sell off a baitcaster (Abu-Garcia 9000) sweet catfish rig, mated to a Ugly stick baitcasting rod. Nice setup, and will let it go for (hahahahahah) check in the fence it section...and then get a better surf rod. one that won't feel like it wants to snap with a three ounce sinker.

got one for ya...ande makes 7-12 ft stiff as fuk....can throw heavy lead.....and cheap...fuji guides...cork tape...you got to cast my 10 ft to try it....i got 2 andes
one 9 and one 10ft...ten footer can cane an woolly mammoth's ass

I almost bought the Ande yesterday, but ended up going with the Ugly Stick, 10'6'' surf rod. Balance's with my reel like they were seperated siamese twins. wasn't priced to bad either. I CAN'T wait until the surf trip!!!!

the only bad thing about the ande is the cork is a lil thik when they get over 9ft...tica's are much better but 20-60 bucks more.........most expensive ande is like 45 bucks for a 12ftr

Meatloaf if you take a peice a fine sand paper you can reduce the thickness of the cork without ruinning it. Just do it lightly and a little at a time.

no u dont undertstand...the blank makes the thickness...most rod companies try to save money on cork cause it's so expensive.....the best cork is flora grade from portugal...on the niceset fly rods........the cork on the handle of the saltwater stick is just tape!...sanding it would ruin it...

it's not...it rules...even real expensive cork handle saltwater sticks do the same....big amounts of foam or cork throws off the balance.....cork-tape handle rods continue to break casting records every year...if you try my seven footer, you would probably buy one cause you liked it so much...and as for casting difference, i can cast at least 50 ft farther with a dork-taped rod vs a foam handle shitter

nice stick ...please give report of how you like it compared to your old one in rod section......can you tell me how you like that penn on your new salt pole? i think i am switching from okuma to penn eventually

The PENN really lays it down bro. I can't think of another reel in that price range that can beat it. They are bullet proof. do it and you won't ever turn back. and then save the Okuma IF anything ever happens to the PENN, but u bet it wont. Just rinse with fresh water thoroughly and voila! good as new. I'd marry mine if i could.
