Penn International 955/965/975s.
I fished with these a few times and liked them, but have had some interesting conversations with Matt Hillyer and several other people who own these reels. It seems that they have tremendous issues with corrosion, even in well maintained reels. Hillyers, the oldest Penn dealer in CT and a Penn service center, has stopped carrying them as Penn is so slow in getting replacement parts for this frequent issue. There were 2 separate customers in the shop the other day with the same problem. I believe it was Charlie or another of our group Saturday that said he had the same problem. Needless to say, I have crossed the 975 off my list and was looking at the Avet SX, which I've heard great things about from guys like TunaHunter, and it cost about $75 less than the 975. Anyone else have any insights, please weigh in.

must be the alloy...that is disappointing...try writing the company and see if gold turns into silver...field testers do not abuse reels/rods the way they should...tear em up...and then see what is leftover.

I'm just going to look at other reels down the line, though it looks like it will by quite a while before I get any more tackle! Just thought it interesting/a shame that Penn put out a product with issues significant enought that one of their oldest and largest dealers in NE has dropped the line.
