Skunkings Empty Skunkings

Post by RedneckAngler Sun Apr 11, 2010 9:37 pm

Went out today from Salmon Cove and got shut out. River has come back down below flood stage, and water temps were in the mid-50s in the cove and only about 50 on the river. Guys on the bank were reporting a few scattered schoolies yesterday, but nothing as of lunchtime today. I kinda went shotgun, with no real gameplan other than throw a lot of crap out and poke around the cove and maybe look in some of the bends for schoolies. I debated putting in at Montville and fishing up to Norwich which I knew would be a much better chance of catching good schoolies, or at least going down to Hamburg Cove. However, I didn't want to drive that far, and as a result, got nada. Still a decent day to get the boat out, but every instinct was telling me I was wasting time with the fishing. Maybe next Sunday I'll plan a bit better and head to the Thames for early stripper action.
